Description | Construction began on the Blackfeet Irrigation Project on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in 1908 and continued to 1916 when four of the six units were partially completed. This study and report review the partial development of the irrigation project, analyze the present agricultural situation, and determine the probable future economic capability of the project lands under irrigation. The report focuses on two primary aspects of the development, (1) an analysis of agricultural production and the organization of farms in the present situation, and (2) the agricultural potential under full irrigation. The analysis necessarily is based on information presently available and may require modification when detailed land classification and adequate knowledge of irrigation and drainage requirements are available. |
