Let us know what you know?? _ school board WOLF POINT STAMPEDE meeting: EMERGENCY BROADCAST SYSTEM & EMERGENCY SIREN SYSTEM TEST Do to the number and severity of recent thunderstorms in our area Roosevelt County Disaster and Emergency Services in conjunction with Roosevelt County Sheriff's Department and all incorporated cities and towns with-in Roosevelt County, conducted a test of the Emergency Broadcast System and POPLAR DIAMOND JUBILEE 1990 We will be 75 years old. Our City was incorporated 75 years ago in March, 1916. Plans need to be undertaken now for a 1991 Banner Year!! Planning for use of Armory: Ideas for use of the armory should be submitted to the City of Poplar Office downtown Poplar at your earliest available time! all Emergency Siren Systems on July 9, 1990. The test began at 1:00p.m. with sirens being blown continuously for 1 minute and the EBS alert tones being transmitted over KTYZ radio station in Wolf Point. If an actual emergency condition exists in your area the Kmergenc\ Siren System should sound a continuous 3 to 5 minute tone, which warns residents of impending danger. Upon hearing this warning tone you should immediately take cover and turn, on your radio and tune to the local station. Your local radio station should instruct you where to tune your radio for further information on existing conditions. If at any time you spot a severe weather condition please call the nearest law enforcement agency or national weather service office immediately. �MEG ABINGO" PLAYERS TO VIE FOR HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN NATIONWIDE BINGO GAME BROADCAST BY SATELLITE "MEGABINGO" Wolf Point, Mt., June 29, 1990 -� On Wednesday, July 4, Wolf Point Community Organization Casino enjoyed a double celebration, as W.P.C.O. Casino joined the exciting MegaBingo Satellite network while saluting Independence Day with special games and prizes. The MegaBingo offered a nightly jackpot of $500,000, the largest nightly jackpot in bingo history. Open to the general public, the network games are broadcast by satellite and played on select Indian reservations across the country. W.P.C.O. Casino will offer MegaBingo Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 9:35 p.m. CDT. The matinee-game MegaCash will be played Sunday at 3:00p.m. CDT. "We're excited about adding MegaBingo and MegaCash to our CONT. ON PG. 8 A wagon train, Street Fair and International Professional Rodeo are on tap for the Wild Horse Stampede weekend in Wolf Point, Montana July 13, 14, and 15. The renowned Wild Horse Stampede will feature Roman Riding, trick roping and Donny Landers' "Cantbeatalope". Professional rodeo cowboys and cowgirls from the United States, Canada, as well as two competitors from New Zealand, will compete with Marvin Brookman's stock. A parade complete with marching bands and carrying a Jubilee theme will proceed down Main Street at 12 noon Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Friday of the celebration holds the Jubilee Street Fair, Style Show Extravaganza and parade. That evening the Wild Horse Stampede kicks off its first performance at 7:00p.m. The Human Stampede, a 5K and 10K road race begins Saturday's activities. Jubilee Car Show, Street Fair, parade and a kids rodeo fill the day. At 6:00p.m. the second performance of rodeo begins at the Stampede Grounds. Sunday begins with Cowboy Church at 10:00a.m. in the Stampede Arena. The parade again at noon. We*tAer The City of Poplar is advertising for bids for work associated with the Water Treatment Facility. Briefly described, the project shall consist of the following: Construction of a 40'x40' precast concrete building, the furnishing and installation of iron and manganese removal equipment, a concrete backwash sump, 200 L.F. of 8 inch gravity waste lines, 675 L.F. of 10" PVC waterline and all miscellaneous work necessary therefore and incidental thereto. Sealed bids will be publicly opened and read on August 8, 1990 at 7:00 P.M. (MT) by the City Council of the City of Poplar, Montana. More information on page 6. I, 1970 10.75 The former Ted Manning house across the street from Legion Club goes up in smoke on Friday. BUSY FIRE FIGHTERS CITY OF POPLAR FIRE DEPT. The City of Poplar Volunteer Fire Dept. has been busy the past few weeks. This is a list of fire* the department have been called to the last few days: July 10 - 4:30a.m., mobile home, 403 2nd Ave E, cause suspicious; July 8 -7:45p.m., grass fire, 1/2 mile N/W of Poplar, cause fireworks, called hack 2nd time 10:15p.m.; July 6 - 3:17a.m., house, 117 A St. E, cause unknown; July 4 � Rainbow 420 9th Ave E, trash cans, cause unknown. There have been numerous trash and garbage fires recently which are uncalled for plus the fire department has more than enough to do. Please use common sense before you strike that match! LOCAL YOUTH IN ACCIDENTS Two separate one vehicle accidents happened Fourth of July week. Local youth were accident victims. Stacy Stangeland, Randy Ault and Kevin Thielen were involved in a pick-up hitting a tree near Sidney - Stacy received bruises and cuts -Randy has a broken collar bone with minor abrations. Kevin remains in a Billings hospital in the intensive care unit. His condition was not known at press time. July 5th, at approximately 3a.m., 4 youths crawled out of this one but maybe next time they won't. This happened near Tule Creek. No serious injuries.
