The first quaitei was fairly even until Poplar lost a fumble on their own 29 ya;d line . Circle promptly went to their belly option series and stored. Cnce Circle discovered that the young Indians were having trouble with the option, the game turned into a route . Late in the second half the Indians settled down and played good defense fhus allowing their offense a c'tance with the ball. Dennis McGowOfl promptly started picking up good yardage on quick pitches to the outside . When the defense itortod stopping that play, qua'tcrbac1 Fred Steele would send fullback Fra ik Gouineaj up the middle of the line with snorl trap'.. For the night Denis McGowan rushed for 108 yards. Frank Gomeou rushed for 54 yards, Richcd Knowlton rushed :0' 61 vards, and Fred Steele passed fo' 77 ya'di. The Poplar Coaching Staff picked Dennis McGowan a >d Fred Steele a> Co-offensive players of the week, while Frank Goumeau was picked as defensive player of the week . The 1977-78 girls basketball season is just about underlay. On Saturday, Sep*. 17 at 12:30, the girls parents are invited to attend a picture-taking session at fho High School Gymnasium. At 1:00 P.M. Now retired, Mr. Mac Donald used to ranch north of Poplar. They were married at Wayzata Minnesota, September 8, 1917. This dote Is tenative a' the present time, but during the next few weeks, t will be putting some � thing in this pap1?' about the exact time and date of this meeting. These state representatives will be speaking on various ways to achieve downtown redevelopment and urban e-newal . If the Poplar community suppo-ts this effort, it is possible that some representatives fiom the federal government could :one to Pop'a to speak on similar topics. It is critical that all people in the Poplar commu iity feolize the opportunity of these meetings. Pop'a< could be <evifalized so that new businesses would come Here, and thus everyone In the community could benefit from the greater number of business establishments. Poplar residvi's should hove the opportunity to spend their money in Popla other thon going to Wo'f Po'n' o-'Williston .
