pings of what seems to be true fissure
veins, having' the strongest kind of
mineral Indications and, in numerous cases, having' rendered very satisfactory assays. However, as none
of the veins, except in one instance,
have oeen tested further than actually on the surface, very little can be
warrantably pronounced of their mineral value, with the one exception before mentioned.
A contract having been made some
time since for driving a tunnel on a
location, named thc Nancy Hanks, a
large body of excellent looking galena
ore was struck some twenty feet
from tbe surface, the assay from
which have already more than satisfied the most sanguine expectations.
As we bave to depend absolutely on
outside capital and have been so terribly handicapped by the, of late,
general financial stagnation, we feel
much gratified with even our comparatively small success.
It would not be difficult for the
most spectacled tenderfoot to recognize that a prospector, these days,
even within the limits of an organized and reputable mineral district

prospect'ere he can secure the least
financial recognition of his property.
How mnch more then must this be
tbs cast In an almost unknown and
but partly tested district. llow.-ver,
the motto of every genuine prospector Is nil desperandum (we never despair). I weil remember the day
when Butte was but a small and
gloomy camp of poor prospectors, and
it remained so for many a day and
year. It is scarcely worth pointing
out that it Is today the largest and
most prosperous camp on the A u-eri-
can or any other continent. Copper
apolis, lu Meagher county, after more
than sixteen years of neglect, and ignorant prejudice, is to be reauimated
by the souud sense and UHcqualed
mining operations of Marcus Daly.
Castle, though I never believed it
held within its'limits one single or
solitary trus fissure vein, was irreparably ruined as a mining camp by
misrepresentations and in lla ted stock
companies. Very little, if anything,
was known of such organizations us
stock companies dtiling thc early
mining days of Montana. They have
been tne ruin of more than oue promising camp latterly. However, if the
prospective resources of new mining
nuaiiiies were based more upon the

this iirm has been for years the largest, and. best kmwn.^^iuiuse in the

thousand dealers handled Ferry's
seeds, and thc number of people who
planted them runs far into thc mil-
lions. For 1£<j4 this firm has made
preparations to supply at least f<0,000
bushels of garden beans alone.
Something more than shrewd business methods is required to place and
keep such a business iu t lie lead. It
is something that deserves tha
thought of everyone who plants seeds.
If every sower could go e>u a tour of
inspection through this great establishment and see what is behind ths
name of Ferry's seeds, see with what
care they bave been developed and
tested, sec with what precision they
are assorted and packed, ready for
planting, there would be iess disappointment and fewer losses from the
use of inferior seeds.
Every year l). M. Ferry & Co. issue
