KENDALL, MONTANA CEMETERY
Abandoned Cemetery (Recorded Summer 1978)
From the Christmas Edition of the Lewistown News Argus, 21 Dec 1975, Joe Montgomery, pioneer resident of Kendall stated: "In 1903, a man came to him and said his baby had died and he wanted to bury the baby in Kendall, but there was no cemetery. I (Joe) took him on the hill behind the hotel and found a beautiful spot where they could see east as far as Cone Butte. It was government land, and the father was assured that nobody would claim it. The land around the cemetery was homesteaded later, but five acres was held out for the cemetery." Reports say that over 100 people were buried there.

Marked Graves (Stones still standing)
The location of this cemetery is about 3/4 mile southeast of Kendall. It is fenced separately from the pastures around it. There are several graves that are fenced separately within the boundary fence. It is very overgrown with brush, weeds, and grass. Host stones show wear, several are broken off their foundations. There are a number of unmarked graves. The deaths of so many children is attributed to an epidemic in the town.
