Montana--[Flathead County]; Polson (Mont.); Flathead Indian Reservation (Mont.); Flathead River (Mont.); Boats and boating; River boats
Originally announced it would be launched in 1912, the riverboat "City of Dixon" encountered numerous delays before the maiden voyage was made in June 1914. The boat made only a few trips between Dixon and Sloan's Ferry on the Flathead River, hauling passengers and freight. The Flathead Courier newspaper reported on August 4, 1914, that the ship was struck by lightning at its mooring and was destroyed by fire.
