Jardine (Mont.); Gold mining--1890-1900. Gold mines and mining--Montana--Park County.
Men and freight wagons in Jardine, Montana, buildings including smelter tramway can be seen in background. Reverse reads, "Lower end of Bear Gulch mining camp, now known as Jardine, Park County, Montana. Looking down stream toward Yellowstone Park. This picture was made shortly after the discovery of bonanza ore in Sowash claim (recorded as Revelation claim) with the resulting boom evidenced by the freight teams. (Harry) Bush had just completed installation of his new power plant in the old mill, part of the roof of which, with the new stack, may be seen just over the right corner of the big barn."
