William Burnett was born in Jan 10, 1855 at Wayne Co. Kentucky. His brother was Perk Burnett. In 1875 he and his brother left Texas to go with a trail herd going to Wyoming. They later on started purchasing land and cattle in Wyoming and sold out everything to James R. Johnson. In 1882 they joined up with some cowboys who were delivering a small herd of cattle to the Pioneer Cattle Co. of Fergus County. After arriving in Fergus County, Granville Stuart hired them to work for him on the DHS ranch. Later they bought their own land. William retired in 1938. He died June 10, 1946. He married Elsie Newell.
