Decker was also the owner of the Big Timber Pioneer about 1910. He was a Pony Express rider in the Black Hills before arriving in Montana. He had served on the Seattle Post-Intelllgencer, the Butte Miner, and papers in Deadwood, Chicago, Minneapolis, and San Francisco, and for a long lime was associate editor for Colonel Sam Gordon in tho publication of the Miles City Journal prior to becoming the Gazette Editor - See The Making of the Billings Gazette, Billings Gazette, January 15, 1921, p.12. He died before 1921.
