The first business to come before the meeting was the question of the amendment of Article VIII, Section (a) of the By-Laws to make the annual dues payable on January 1st of each year instead of on February 1st. Upon motion duly made and seconded it was resolved that such amendment be made.

It was further resolved that Article IX of the By-Laws be amended by the insertion of the words TTand Officers present" in the first phrase of said article, so that the article as amended would read, "These By-Laws may be amended or added to by a two-thirds vote of the Directors and Officers present at any regular or special meeting of the Board * * *"
Mr. Cross next brought up the fact that the Club was entitled under an old contract to a share of the royalties from the publication of John C. Phillips1 book "American Game Animals
and Birds". Mr. Cross explained that although this situation

existed, the Club never had and did not now wish to receive any of the royalties inasmuch as there was no reason for its taking them. It was resolved that Mr. Cross should write to the publishers and the executors of the estate and ask what action they preferred to have taken in order to transfer the interests of the Club to the estate of John C. Phillips.
Mr. Ely spoke of conversations which he had had with Martin T. Stephens of Roland Ward, Ltd., during his recent visit over here, in which Mr. Stephens had asked permission for Roland Ward, Ltd. to use measurements that would be published in the new edition of "Records of North American Big Game". Upon motion duly made and seconded Mr. Ely was authorized to write Stephens consenting to the use by Roland Ward, Ltd. of the measurements contained in the Records.
Mr. Ely reported that the "Records of North American Big Game" would be on sale by September 8th.
Mr. Carpenter related that he had had correspondence with the British East African White Hunters Associa-

tion, which was planning to publish a book of their own records of African big game animals, and had asked the cooperation of the Boone and Crockett Club in making available measurements for their use. Upon motion duly made and seconded, Mr. Carpenter was authorized to take such steps as in his discretion might be deemed advisable for cooperating with the British East African White Hunters Association in the publication of their book of records.

idea of an exchange of courtesies and facilities between the Boone and Crockett Club and the Shikar Club of London. Mr. Stephens had felt that the facilities of each Club could be extended to the other in such matters as the interchange of information concerning hunting areas, guides, etc. Upon motion duly made and seconded the Secretary was authorized to write Mr. Stephens expressing the desire of the Boone and Crockett Club to cooperate in the manner suggested and asking for further suggestions for the bringing of the two Clubs closer together.
The Secretary next brought up the question of the annual dinner, and urged that the members of the Executive Committee cooperate to the fullest extent possible in making the dinner this year attractive and worthwhile. Mr. Sheldon suggested that the custom of holding the dinner in the middle of the ■week prevented many out-of-town members from attending and suggested that the dinner be held on a Friday or a Saturday evening. After some discussion the evening of Friday, December 8th, was tentatively adopted for the dinner, subject to the Secretary’s checking with the New York Zoological Society, the American Museum of Natural History, and the American Society of Mammalo- gists to avoid conflict in dates with meetings of those organizations. The Secretary was authorized to canvass the members of the Club for suggestions as to subjects of talks and pictures for the evening.
The next question to be brought up was that of memberships. The Secretary reported that there were four vacancies in the Regular Memberships, caused by the deaths of Norman James, Benjamin Chew, Charles MacDonald and Owen Wister. The

Mr. Goodhue Livingston and Mr. Harold Anthony, had been elected to Regular Membership. According to custom, the list of qualified candidates for Regular Membership was read aloud and the names of Mr. George Carey of Baltimore and John A. Pope of Detroit were selected by the Committee to be put before the members and voted upon in accordance with the regulations of the Club. It was decided to keep the remaining two vacancies open for the time-being.
The Secretary brought up the fact that there was a very small waiting list of qualified nominees and that more people should be proposed for membership* The Secretary was instructed to write to the proposers of nominees on this list and ask them to follow up their nominations and write in such information to the Executive Committee as would help them in making selections from candidates about whom little is known.
The names of Martin T. Stephens, 7^-^ Wallace,
t
John H. Baker and Robert Cushman Murphy were placed in nomination for Associate Membership by the Committee.
The President closed the meeting with the report to the Committee that Major Colby had returned from Alaska with five brown bears, two of wrhich would be used in the Alaskan Brown Bear Group given by the Boone and Crockett Club to the new North American Hall of the American Museum.
